July weather must have thawed the market, because July started to get back to normal. Then in August, the trends continued, but were not accelerated in any way. Technologist rates inched up across all three modalities, but the nursing side didn’t get the memo. Technologist rates were up marginally, but RN rates slowed down a little bit, continuing the trend for the year: Nursing getting the short stick. Geographically, patterns are pretty close to historical trends, very close actually – from the maps you’ll see that the Southeast is shading red (rates going down), while the West Coast and Great Lake areas are increasing. Not surprisingly, as Texas and the Southeast usually take advantage of better fall / winter weather and think they don’t have to pay as much compared to say…Pennsylvania.
